Thank you for visiting my personal fundraising page for the 2019 Dempsey Challenge!
On Thursday, April 6, 2017, I lost the love of my life to Ovarian Cancer. Lucia was her name; we fell in love in High School and had a beautiful life together for nearly forty one years. Together we raised two talented, well-rounded sons, Matthew and Joshua, who have long since moved on and are now raising their own families.
Lucia was a strong, independent woman with a deep sense of love and loyalty toward family and friends, she had a great sense of humor as well as an infectious laugh you could hear for miles around and she always, always had a positive attitude no matter what the circumstance. There’s a line in a song that best describes Lucia and how she lived her life – “And when you get a chance to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance, I hope you dance.” And dance she did!
For a while now, I’ve wanted to start some fundraising efforts of my own but have yet to put my plans to fruition. Recently, two very dear friends of ours encouraged me to participate in the Dempsey Challenge and I thought, why not? Bike riding for me is very therapeutic and rewarding; now I can give it a whole new purpose by raising funds for the Dempsey Center where every dollar donated directly benefits the Dempsey Center, a leader in quality of life care for individuals and families impacted by cancer.
So over the weekend of September 28th and 29th, I have committed to a 5K walk and a 25 mile bike ride. Please support me in my fundraising efforts by making a donation. Any amount you can give makes a difference! My goal is to raise as much as you are willing to donate because I feel together we CAN make a difference for those who have fought, for those who are fighting and for those who can fight no more.
Live, Love, Laugh and be LUCIA STRONG every day.
Thank you for your support!
